Beautiful Island Getaways that are Fairly Undiscovered

Beautiful Island Getaways that are Fairly Undiscovered | I can only imagine you love beach vacations and visiting exotic islands. The problem is, everyone else does too. With few known exotic islands that offer great accommodation options and breathtaking views and activities; people end up flocking to the same, popular island destinations. Soon your island vacation becomes less of a relaxing, exclusive break, and more of a ‘wait in line for the next available beach bed’ kind of holiday. Which is not much of a holiday at all.

The point of jetting off to an exotic island is to get away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life in the city; and get as far away from the crowds as possible. An island vacation is about finding stillness and peace, where you’re able to rejuvenate and relax in the most picturesque setting. But what’s one to do when most of the well-known islands are turning into tourist hotspots and peace and quiet is a thing of the past? Well, that’s when you start looking for the islands that are ‘off the beaten track’ – the ones that are still fairly undiscovered, yet offer everything that the usual, popular island destinations do. By reading through our list of the island getaways that are fairly undiscovered, you may just be surprised at not only the beauty of these places, but you’ll be blown away by the many incredible activities and accommodation on offer.

Thanda Island, Tanzania

Thanda Island is situated off the coast of the African country, Tanzania. This breathtaking slice of heaven in the middle of the Indian Ocean is a sight to behold. Crystal blue waters surround the island, and the white sand beaches and palm trees will assure you that paradise does exist. Not only is this island utterly beautiful, but it’s a luxury private island too. This means that there’s only one place to stay here – although you wouldn’t look twice even if there were other options! This beach manor house has not forgotten a single thing; you really can expect all the bells and whistles. From yoga, to a plethora of water activities, a tennis court, gym and spa and much more. Thanda Island is completely exclusive, so one needn’t worry about fighting through the crowds. Do yourself a favour and jet off to this remote, yet exhilarating island of dreams!

Bawah Island, Indonesia

Bawah Island is yet another private island, which was founded by a Singaporean-based financier, Tim Hartnoll. The island is actually a collection of five small islands, which boast three lagoons between them, 13 white sand beaches and now a beach manor house/hotel. This island may be remote but it’s certainly something out of a fairytale! The lush vegetation on the island and the clear waters that surround it, makes it the perfect place to relax – and keep fit! Yes, one can either spend their days lazing in the sun, frolicking in the beautiful warm waters, hiking through the butterfly-filled rainforest, kayaking in a see through kayak over the coral reefs or snorkelling with exotic marine life. Sounds like the perfect break, doesn’t it?

Turtle Island, Fiji

Turtle island is perfect for those who support sustainability – not to mention perfect for those who want to relax, be surrounded by nature, and take part in activities less popular on most islands. The only hotel on the island was built with natural fibres and materials, for example, the woven cushions and floor mats are made from palms and coconut husk, and the daybeds are covered with the ‘recycled’ fabric of old curtains. But this is still not the only positive about this gorgeous island. Turtle Island also offers on-land adventures, such as mountain biking and horse riding, and of course, scuba diving, paddle boarding and deep-sea fishing. It also may just look rather familiar, as this was where some scenes of ‘The Blue Lagoon’ were filmed!

Ariara Island, Philippines

The Philippines has quickly become tourist-central. However, the island of Ariara in Philippines is still fairly undiscovered. It offers all the same things that the usual philippine islands offer, but with a touch of elegance and luxury. The jungle on the island and the perfect beaches are exquisite and offer visitors extraordinary activities. The island is made up of four beach cottages and two villas that are thatched and look rather ‘island-y’. It is the perfect place to kick back and relax, away from the hoards of people visiting the philippines mainland and surrounding islands.
